Bed safety rails, meant to protect the elderly and frail, instead can kill

Thousands of elderly people have died or been injured after becoming trapped in the safety rails installed to keep them from falling out of bed, but the government and industry have yet to impose mandatory – or even voluntary – standards for the product.
